In addition to catering to the demand for secure storage, this business will provide a vehicle for Swire Shipping to find uses for their end-of-life containers. The end uses for used shipping containers are numerous, including: domestic secure storage; conversion into accommodation or site office units; and even drying units for crops such as cocoa and vanilla.
With major domestic PNG infrastructure projects, such as LNG, Wafi-Golpu gold, Frieda River gold and major road network upgrades coming closer to fruition, Swire Shipping is well placed to cater to the huge demand from these sectors too.
